Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
- In a separate bowl, mix oil, buttermilk, eggs, black food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar.
- Gradually combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting.
Notes
- For a deeper black color, use black cocoa powder instead of regular cocoa powder.
